Work for international students

Students often combine study with work. Foreign citizens can work on an equal basis with their fellow students, but there are several points to consider. So, a student who came from abroad must be over 18 years old (the age of majority) and study at the full-time (full-time) department of universities that have passed state accreditation.

By law, foreign citizens need to obtain a special work permit, but an exception was made for students. It is important to keep in mind that the exemption from the work permit is valid only during training. If a foreign student takes academic leave or, for any reason, terminates his education at a Russian educational institution, the employment contract will need to be terminated.

A great way to start your career is with an internship. Usually companies recruit students for a certain period, during which young people gain experience in the field of interest to them and acquire useful contacts. Most internships are free, but the likelihood of further employment in this company is high. For information about internships, you can contact the educational department of the university or search for them yourself on special aggregator sites.

Don't worry if you don't have experience yet. Jobs from scratch can be found in the catering industry: chefs, waiters, promoters, customer service managers. Also, without experience, you can try yourself in the role of a sales representative or sales manager, here the main thing is the ability to communicate with people and present the product. If you want to get a job in a profession, you should try your luck and apply for a dream job. Sometimes companies are ready to hire a candidate with no work experience, who has shown a strong interest in the vacancy and a willingness to learn by doing.

Finding a balance between work and study can be difficult, so students are better off looking for flexible options. So, they themselves will be able to choose the time to complete work tasks. Flexibility is common among creative professions such as journalists or designers. Also, working in shifts can be a good solution, since they can always be exchanged with colleagues so as not to miss an important test. With the development of technology, remote work is becoming increasingly popular, for which only a computer is needed. For example, many programmers, support specialists, or copywriters work remotely.

All educational institutions in Russia go on long summer vacations that last about two months. International students can make good use of this time and take an internship or even get a full-time job.
